Paint Correction is the process of intricate machine polishing to the paintwork to achieve a very highly gloss defect free finish. Free of scratches, swirl marks, etching and other paint defects utilising a range of specific machines, pads and polishes.
Typically known as a “buff” or “cut and polish” known by most this is the incorrect term that is now outdated and is thrown around by mainstream car wash cafes and smash repairs as a way of quickly running over a painted surface to bring up gloss and remove scratches although in terms this method is actually inflicting more damage and only giving a temporary fixture to the painted surface. Paint Correction requires specific time and skill that needs to be taught to achieve the perfect finish desired.
Over time clear coat picks up contamination and defects such as scratches, swirls, micro marring, water spots and other numerous defects from improper care, washing and drying methods along with inexperienced and cheap car detailers incorrectly machine polishing paint.
In order to properly and permanently remove the above-mentioned defects a wide understanding of auto paint types and hardness is needed to be able to carefully and properly rectify the paintwork. Paint Correction is broken down into 3 stages, first being compounding which is the most aggressive and giving the utmost cut using abrasive polishes and compounds, polishing which is designed to refine the paint work and produce a very fine and high clarity finish and wet sanding; used to remove extreme defects and texture in paintwork.
Our Paint Correction Process is carried out once a physical inspection of paint work is performed along with a paint thickness reading before commencing any work. Unlike many other well-known detailing studios in Sydney all our work and paint correction services are done in house and not done by 3rd party contractors who are there to turn over as many cars as possible in a single week. SIngle Stage Paint Correction
- Paint work is corrected in a single stage utilising a single pad and polish finding the balance between aggressive and fine pads and polishes to achieve a 50-70% defect free finish with a high degree of gloss and clarity.
- Results will vary depending on paint types and degree of damage and existing defects to the paintwork.
- - Will not remove severe to heavy defects and scratches
- - Oxidisation or water/acid etching.
- - Defects removed will be light swirls
- - Buffing holograms
- - Marring and micro marring as well as minor water etching.
2 Stage Paint Correction:
- A much more intensive Paint Correction process which is broken down into cutting and refining using some of the most aggressive pads and compounds to cut and remove deeper defects compared to a single stage correction once compounding is complete a softer pad followed by fine polish is used to refine the paintwork removing cutting marks and achieve a high clarity and gloss finish. Sometimes a number of machine polishing stages are needed depending on paint types and hardness this means much more time will be spent on your vehicles paint work to produce far better results.
- - Will remove 70% to 90% of defects depending on paint type degree of damage and defects to the paintwork.
- - Will not remove the deepest of scratches but will greatly reduce them.
- - Defects Removed will be moderate to severe swirls scratches
- - Marring as well as medium water and acid etching.
3 Stage Paint Correction:
- The Epitome of Paint Correction going through all means possible to produce the most pinnacle finish of the paintwork including wet sanding if desired to remove extreme defects and texture. No less than 3 stages of Correction will be performed during this service to remove every possible defect that can be removed. This service is aimed to leave a show car quality finish with a deep rich wet gloss. Stone chips will be touched up and other defects rectified.

- - Will remove up to 95% of defects the last 5% consisting of defects that are impossible to remove and or manufacturing defects.
- - Any possible paint defect that can be removed will be removed in this process using all methods acquirable.
- - Only defects and damage beyond correction will remain.
